(that afternoon)
Amanda: Thanks for answering the phones, Sherry. I'll take over now. I finally finished that brief Mr. Mitchell wanted.
Sherry: Great. If I can have two uninterrupted hours, I can finish all of Mr. Stone's letters. Then I can go home on time tonight, too. I've worked overtime three nights this week. My husband is feeling neglected.
Amanda: I hope Mr. Mitchell got the message this morning that we really need a receptionist. I know he's very busy and hasn't had time to look for one. But we can't continue working like this.
Sherry: I know. Two months is already too long.
(the next Monday)
Mr. Mitchell: Amanda, Sherry, I'd like you to meet Jennifer.
She's our new receptionist. Would the two of you please show her the ropes?
Amanda: Sure. Jennifer, why don't you come and sit over here?
This phone system has just two lines. They seem to ring all the time!
Sherry: Yeah, you'll stay pretty busy making appointments for the lawyers.
Here's the appointment book. If anyone asks a question you can't answer,
refer him to one of us. Any questions?
